- Location: Graham, NC (Conveniently serving Burlington, Mebane, Greensboro & surrounding areas)
- Length: 9 hours (comprehensive classroom instruction + essential range time)
- Range Time: Includes mandatory live-fire qualification with pistol or revolver.
- Ammunition: You should bring at least 50 rounds of ammo for qualification. If you rent a gun from us via the "All-Inclusive" add-on, our ammo will be used. We DO NOT allow students to bring reloaded ammunition for any firearm.
- Required Items: A good attitude, willingness to learn, pen/pencil, and eye/ear protection for the range. Please be well-rested for this full day!
- Handgun: We strongly suggest you bring your own gun. If you do not have one yet, you can rent one through our "$20 All-Inclusive" add-on.
- Classroom Policy: NO FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION are allowed in the classroom.

Who qualifies for a NC concealed carry permit?
To apply for a North Carolina CCH permit, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Be a resident of North Carolina for at least 30 days.
- Pass a background check (no felony convictions or disqualifying mental health issues).
How do I apply for a permit after this class?
The process is straightforward:
- Take and pass our certified NC Concealed Carry Handgun class.
- Receive your official certificate of completion.
- Schedule an appointment with the Sheriff's Office in your county.
- Submit the following:
- Your certificate
- Completed application
- Fingerprints
- Government-issued ID
- Payment (~$90 fee)
- DD-214 if you are a military veteran
- Wait for background processing (typically 4–12 weeks depending on your county). Your sheriff will notify you by mail once approved.
How long does it take to get my permit?
Permit processing times vary by county. Most applicants receive a response in 30 to 90 days, depending on volume and staffing. Your sheriff will notify you by mail once approved.
How long is the permit good for?
The NC Concealed Handgun Permit is valid for 5 years. At the end of 5 years, you can choose to let it expire or go through the application process (including another background check) to renew it.
What kind of offenses on my record could lead to permit denial?
A number of offenses will be checked during your FBI background check, including but not limited to:
- Any felony conviction.
- Violation of court orders.
- Any firearm or weapons offense.
- Impersonating an officer/fireman/emergency medical technician.
- Communicating threats.
- Stalking.
- Fighting/violence/breach of peace.
- Child abuse.
- Domestic violence.
- Awaiting trial for any of the above crimes.
- DWI/DUI within the last three years.
- Dishonorable discharge from the armed forces.
NOTE: This is not a complete list of offenses. You will need to go to the official NC DOJ website for the entire list, or read it directly from the statute itself (NCGS 14-415.12, paragraphs (b) and (c)).
How long is the class certificate valid?
North Carolina state law does not stipulate the length of time the certificate is valid for. This means its acceptance is at the discretion of your county sheriff and can vary greatly. With this in mind, we strongly advise all students to take their certificate to their sheriff's office AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Delaying could lead to forgetting about it or losing your certificate.
What must I do to pass the class?
You'll need to clear three main hurdles:
- Legal Examination: Pass a written test on the legal aspects taught in class, including the use of deadly force, justified self-defense, and concealed carry statutes.
- Firearm Safety: Demonstrate safe handling of your handgun during the qualification portion.
- Marksmanship: Show proficiency in using your handgun (loading, firing, unloading, and clearing) while target shooting. The State mandates you shoot a minimum of 30 rounds at three distances (3/5/7 yards) from the target, proving both safety and proficiency.
Can I share my handgun with someone else during the class?
Yes. If two or more students are attending the class with only one handgun, you can share it by shooting on alternate rounds during the qualification.
What is the range portion of the class like?
Our range is located outdoors on private property. Please dress accordingly for the weather conditions on the day of the class (consider heat, cold, and hydration). You will be required to demonstrate safety and proficiency as outlined above.
